Vintage Fashion Fair At Primrose Hill

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

14 November 2010 will be the last of the Primrose Hill vintage fairs this year! So come along for another wonderful shopping experience at Cecil Sharp House. As we are now more or less into winter, you will find a large selection of the most stylish coats and jackets, ranging from tweed, camel, real fur, faux fur, certainly something to suit all tastes and price ranges.

This seasons fashion includes ranges of designer knitwear copied from 50’s style. At the fair, you can find originals of these knits at a fraction of high street prices.

Christmas parties are looming, so an ideal time to look for that very special outfit. Remember all vintage buys are one offs, so the beautiful lacy sparkly dress you find will be totally exclusive to you!

Don’t forget to look for Christmas presents – maybe a pretty piece of affordable jewellery or some other vintage treasure…..

The perfect way to spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon, the fair offers wearable vintage pieces at affordable prices, and for those looking for something extra, there is always a selection of designer labels. Previous finds include Chanel, Biba, Ossie Clarke, Yves St Laurent.

Take a break in between shopping and relax in a The Nice Green Cafe. You will find delicious homemade food all with natural ingredients at a very fair price.

Entrance to the fair is a snip at £3. Please visit vintagefashionlondon.co.uk for the chance to apply for complimentary tickets.

Open to the public from 11am -5pm

Address: Cecil Sharpe House, 2 Regents Park Road, London NW1 7AY

Lily Allen To Launch New Fashion Range

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Pop Singer Lily Allen has announced that she is to launch her new fashion business, named ‘Lucy in Disguise’, this Summer during Vintage at Goodwood Festival. She has also announced that she is turning her back on her music career to concentrate on the new business venture, which will feature vintage clothes with her sister Sarah Owen. The event is to take place over a long weekend in August this year in the grounds of the grand Goodwood Estate in West Sussex. It is to be hosted by Red or Dead founder and designer Wayne Hemmingway, and it will be the first festival of its kind to combine music, fashion, design and retail.

Lily Allen has commented in the past that she was considering the idea of taking a break from music, quoting ” To me, the idea of music and fashion being separate is just not possible- one can’t exist without the other. If you can’t find something here you are passionate about I would be very surprised!” The festival will also have its own ‘High Street’- which will contain temporary pop-up shops from the likes of The Body Shop, John Lewis, and Oxfam, as well as hair salons where stylists will recreate styles from past eras. There will also be a ‘Vintage Marketplace’, where vintage lovers will be able to browse around and shop in their own personal heaven! A main music stage will play host to several live acts, including Sandie Shaw, who will be performing for the first time in 20years.

It seems Lily Allen wants to take a serious shot at her fashion business, hence why she is retiring from music. It looks like her range will be a massive success, working under guidance of Wayne Hemmingway who has already been a huge success in the vintage market. “The thing I love about vintage is that it is incredibly well-made,” says Lily- “it lasts forever!”

The party is open to anyone and everyone with the opportunity to list and swap as many clothes as they like for free. Fashion Bloggers from all over the world will also be invited to attend and help promote sustainable style by listing their clothes.

International Day of Swishing’s flagship event.

We at Futerra are overjoyed at how fabulous all of your swishes are looking. We are also excited to announce that January 9th 2010 is officially the first ever International Day of Swishing.

There are now Swishers all over the world from South Africa to Belgium and New Zealand to Japan.

To celebrate we are throwing an eco-fabulous ‘Red Carpet Swish’ at London’s Swanky Andaz Hotel in Liverpool Street.

There will be music, alcohol, fabulous people and fabulous clothes. As well as being able to upgrade your wardrobe without risking the chaos of January sales, you will also be able to relax and enjoy one of London’s most exclusive venues.

The event is free of charge.

Doors will open at 3.00pm and Swishers will have an hour and a half to drop off clothes and relax with a cocktail.

The first Swish will run from 4.30 until 5.30 and then another cocktail break will be followed by more Swishing and you guessed it, more cocktails.

We will be following a points system. Designer items will be given 15 points, vintage 10 points and other items 5 points. Swishers can then take away items equivalent to the value of the items they came with. Items will be assigned points at the door by our fashionista Swishing attendees.

We will have style advisors in the form of London’s next big designers. Students from London’s top fashion courses will be on hand to offer style advice and basic amendments.
Numbers are limited so arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Posh Swaps Party at the Guildhall Bath

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

clothes swap partyposh swaps clothes swapclothes swappingswishingswishing party Guildhall Bathswap shop

Last night was another fun clothes swap party for Posh Swaps. This time at the Guildhall in Bath. The swappers had a relaxed evening, enjoying a glass of wine and browsing the clothes and stalls. That was until the swap began at about 8pm, when the room turned into a frenzy of swapping with everyone grabbing for the items that they really wanted.

Once again I was gutted to be working as I would have loved to participate in the swap. I saw so many gorgeous clothes and couldn’t believe that these were actually clothes that people no longer wanted. Some great labels like Monsoon and Nougat, some gorgeous evening wear and lots of colourful and sparkly clothes and accessories  and even some brand new clothes with the tags still on.

We were delighted to welcome Emma McDonnell, Personal Stylist of Style to Wear along to the swap. Emma styled one lucky swapper and also showed her collection of gorgeous leather and suede corset/ obi belts are the perfect finishing touch for so many outfits.

Vicki’s Frock Exchange in aid of Sue Ryder Care

28 Nov 2009 12:00

Venue: Elmgrove Centre

I am happy to announce Vicki’s Frock Exchange is back! Another fun filled frocktastic day will be held at The Elmgrove Centre just off of Gloucester Road on Saturday the 28th November. Just in time to get your Christmas party dress!

This time all the proceeds will be going to Sue Ryder Care. Sue Ryder Care provides essential care and support to people living with serious illnesses and conditions such as Multiple sclerosis, Parkinsons disease, Huntingtons disease and dementia. They give these people and there families back what these debilitating illnesses and diseases take away through there home visits, and in specialist hospices and in neurological care centers.

I have chosen to fundraise for a very specific part of Sue Ryder Care, called the Malawi Village sponsorship project. I have pledged to raise £3,000 in the next 12 months, which will sponsor a village in Malawi for a whole year. It will provide them with the means to help children out there with epilepsy able to go to school. And communities can help themselves by training local volunteers in health issues. These villages need outside support, and it will be amazing to be part of helping those less fortunate than us, don’t you think?

The price of entry will be £10 for the whole day 12: 30 til about 5-6ish!, It will include your clothes swap, refreshments and nibbles, Live entertainment, DJ\’s, seamstress’s on hand, and once again an Amazing Raffle. The prizes last time were fantastic and included tickets to the hippodrome, meals for two, holistic treatments but to name a few!

There will be access to beauticians and stalls, with a few shops on Gloucester Road showing interest in coming and selling there funky stuff! All this will be confirmed in detail nearer the time.

For those of you who missed out last time I shall explain how the Frock Exchange works;

1.IT IS NOT JUST FROCKS!! You can bring Dresses, coats, shoes, bags and jewellery to shop. 6 Items Maximum and EVERYTHING MUST BE IN GOOD CONDITION! Just think to your self “I want to take some nice things home, so I will bring nice things for others to take home!”

2.You will come with your items which will be checked and displayed by my wonderful volunteers; you will then be given an exchange voucher with the number of Items you bought, so you can take the same number of items away with you. You will be checked on your departure

3.You will have a few hours to try lots of things on and enjoy what else is going on throughout the day. BUT you cannot claim anything as your own until the exchange officially opens. So before it opens, everything must be back on the hangers or display units. I will then give you the nod and you can make a run for your Items! Everyone went home happily with a least one thing they wanted last time. As I have said before, NO BITING or SCRATCHING!!!! Remember it’s all for a good cause!

4.You will have fun! We all had such a happy day last May and raised £800 for Breast Cancer Research UK, and I know it’s going to be bigger better and raise even more this time!

To obtain a ticket, please email me vickisfrockexchange@live.co.uk and I will give you details. For Women of all shapes and sizes age 16 and over

If you are on Facebook, please join my group;

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=86564768596&ref=ts

clothes swap party london swishing

We are so excited about our latest announcement. We have been really busy planning the first ever Posh Swaps clothes swap party. Whilst many people love swapping clothes online for it’s choice and simplicity, some also really like the social aspects of swapping and will give any reason for a good party. Clothes swapping parties or swishing have become hugely popular in the UK.

With this in mind, we have teamed up with Total Renewal and Style to Wear for our first ever clothes swap party for 17th September in Chiswick and we are sure that it is going to be a completely enjoyable event, the chance to catch up with friends and to relax and enjoy a bit of pampering. We think it will give you the chance to refresh and update your wardrobe but it is not just a clothes swapping party. The event will include a pamper treatment for each guest, a glass of wine and a fashion and beauty market. Each guest will also recieve a Posh Swaps goody bag.
